Rear AC is separate from the front AC. Has it's own compressor, condenser, etc. Yes, if you mess with the sleeper fan controls, it adjusts the front, too. Mine works great, no complaints.

IF, your rear vents are pushing warm air forward, and your dash vents are pushing cold
air backwards, you probably aren't going to get much of any cold air into the bunk, it simply has nowhere to go.As a driver and an owner, I have to tell you that idling that truck AND running the ParkSmart is one of the dumbest things I can think of, either shut the PS down and idle, or shut the truck off and use the PS. You should probably take some time and read your manual, it's all in there!!!

And a little maintenance goes a long way, too. I run in the oilfield, so the fan/condenser gets dirty fast. I wash it out weekly to keep the dirt and grime out, and I have extender flaps on top of my quarter fenders to help keep mud and rocks from hitting it.

Another place to look is the bottom of the drivers side cabinet. Pop off that cover and there's a cab filter in there. Clean it out regularly, and I have a precleaner foam on the cabinet cover to help keep all those components clean. On the underside of the cab, directly below the drivers cabinet, there's a drain for the sleeper AC. I check it often to make sure it's clear.

Kansas Transit, this guy (the owner) squeezes every nickel until the buffalo poops. The batteries have never been changed, and never will be. The ParkSmart has never been maintained, that is almost certain. There is no manual in here, but fear not, I was asking that IF the motor is idling (and ParkSmart OFF) shouldn't cold air be in the back too? IIRC they can't be used together, either you are parked and use the "PARK" button in the berth, or run the motor, and then that button is, at least in this truck, in-operative. I am not using them both, just got both bunk vents shut, bunk fan OFF. It's doing the job now with the dash blowing on #8 and recirculate, BARELY. Just tough to air back there, much like that garbage "Idle-Air." By July this will be no dice for, me, as I know they won't fix it.

What year is this truck, how many miles? I was going by your comment that you "couldn't" sleep without the truck idling, I thought you meant idling for noise, not A/C.
Edit, never mind, see that it is a 2014, really shouldn't need batteries yet, have they been load tested?

Not sure about a 2014 Rusty, but on my 2010's there is a mega fuse under/back of the sleeper that gets corroded, that could be your issue and the first place I would look.
I will tell you we HAVE had issues with the PS over the years, but I have trucks that are going on 8 years old and 900,000 and they still work, So I wouldn't necessarily call it a crappy system.

Can you pin point the Godzilla Fuse and I'll give that a shot. Filter wasn't bad, but cleaned it anyway.
Edit: Mechanic already said (last fall when I moved into this truck) that owner refuses to change batteries. So load testing would be of no use anyway, and for all I know is exactly why it's finally completely failed. Last fall it would only heat for 2-5 hours before shutting down. On A/C, you were lucky to get 30 minutes. Idling to restore batteries was a common sleep interruption.
